Plastic packaging is widely used in daily life and industrial production due to its lightness, durability, low cost and strong plasticity.Plastic packaging is everywhere, protecting our food, drinks, gift, and goods. The following are the most common types of plastic packaging boxes, their characteristics, applications, and environmental considerations:
Polyester (PET) Packaging
Features: Transparency, high strength, excellent chemical resistance, and a barrier to gas and moisture.
Applications: Beverage bottles (such as mineral water bottles and carbonated beverage bottles). Food packaging (such as condiment bottles and jam jars). Cosmetic bottles and pharmaceutical bottles. Advantages: Recyclable and environmentally friendly.
Polyethylene (PE) Packaging
Classifications: Includes low-density polyethylene (LDPE) and high-density polyethylene (HDPE).
Features: LDPE: Soft and transparent, commonly used in food wrap, plastic bags (such as supermarket shopping bags), and frozen food packaging. HDPE: Highly hard and chemically resistant, commonly used in milk bottles, detergent bottles, and garbage bags.
Advantages: Non-toxic, moisture-proof, low cost, and recyclable.
Polypropylene (PP) Packaging
Features: High-temperature resistance (can withstand temperatures above 100°C), high transparency, and moderate hardness.
Applications: Microwaveable lunch boxes, yogurt cups, and disposable tableware. Medical packaging (such as medicine bottles and capsule casings). Textile packaging (such as garment bags).
Advantages: Safe and non-toxic, suitable for food contact, and reusable.
Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) packaging
Features: Transparent and flexible, but contains plasticizers (such as phthalates) that may be harmful to the human body.
Applications: Food packaging (such as some plastic wrap, but gradually being replaced by PE). Non-food packaging (such as raincoats, toys, and pipes).
Note: Due to environmental concerns, some countries restrict its use in food contact.
Choosing the right custom plastic box depends heavily on the product's needs, balancing protection, cost, shelf life, and sustainability goals. Understanding these common types helps make more informed choices about the packaging we use and recycle.
